I used to have to queue up on a Monday morning while everybody else had paid their dinner WHOSE EDUCATION IS IT ANYWAY? 33 money. I then was sent to queue up in the main entrance hall outside the office to get my dinner tickets. I was the only girl in school that had free school dinners. All this applies from age three to 63 and beyond; from nursery through tertiary education; through compulsory schools to Saturday schools to surfing the Internet. As the stories in this part of the book show, reasons for learning (or not) are always intensely personal.
