It is possible to experience a degree of urgency without frequency, as may occur in response to a running tap, immersion in water or when one reaches the toilet after a long period of waiting, when the urge to void is sometimes so great that the individual may pass a very small amount of urine into the urethra. The presence of urine in the urethra further compounds the feeling of urgency and some leakage may occur. Some may consider this to be sufficient cause to label the person incontinent regardless of how infrequently it occurs.
